How Many Available: A total of 5 Scholarships and 2 Bursaries are awarded each year in the value of $1000 each.

​To Apply:   The current year application forms are available  from CSSD High School Counselling Departments and on our website by the last week of January each year.
​Deadline:    Scholarship and Bursary application deadline will be published once the applications are online.

Announcement and Receipt:   Recipients are selected in mid May and announced in June.   The formal presentation of Scholarships is done in September of the following school year.

Alexandra Jurisic Memorial scholarship

​Scholarship Applications posted in January

​Who Can Apply:  Any student whose parent is a current or past member of Local 55, and who is attending or has completed their Grade 12 year.

Available:  Up to four awarded annually
​
Purpose: This Scholarship was created to give recognition to deceased teachers for their significant involvement in the Alberta Teachers’ Association and/or Local 55. The name of the Scholarship honors Local 55's former President, Alexandra Jurisic who made significant contributions to the ATA.
Usage Requirements: This Scholarship is awarded to offset tuition costs for the recipients’ attendance at any recognized Post Secondary Institution.

Selection Criteria:
  1.  Demonstration of Above average Achievement
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities
  3. Recommendation from a teacher

Proof of enrollment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized Post Secondary institution program by September of that current year, the Scholarship will then revert back to the Association for further allocation.

Alexandra Jurisic memorial Bursary

Who Can Apply: Any student in financial or circumstantial need whose parent is a current or past member of Local 55, and who is attending or has completed their Grade 12 year.

Available: Up to two bursaries are awarded each year

Purpose: This Scholarship was created to give recognition to deceased teachers for their significant involvement in the Alberta Teachers’ Association and/or Local 55. ​The name of the Bursary honors former President of Local 55, Alexandra Jurisic who made significant contributions to the ATA.
Usage Requirements: This Bursary is awarded to offset tuition costs of the recipients’ attendance at any recognized Post Secondary Institution.

Selection Criteria:
  1. Need (Disability, Finance and Family consideration)
  2. Demonstration of Above Average Achievement
  3. Involvement in extra curricular activities
  4. Recommendation from a teacher

Proof of payment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized Post Secondary institution program by September 15th, the Scholarship will then revert back to the Association for further allocation.

St. Mary's University Scholarship

Who Can Apply: Any student who is attending or has completed their Grade 12 year in Calgary Catholic School District and will be attending St. Mary‘s University next year.
​
Available: One St. Mary's scholarship will be awarded annually
​
​Usage Requirements: To offset the tuition costs of the recipients’ attendance at St. Mary’s University.
Selection Criteria:
  1.  Demonstration of Above average Achievement
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities 
  3. Recommendation from a teacher​

Proof of payment must be presented (a tuition receipt is preferred). If the student does not register in a recognized St. Mary’s University program by September of that current year, the Scholarship will then revert to the Association for further allocation.
