January 2022 Message - Thank you!
Welcome back and a happy new year. It seems strange that it has only been two weeks since our return from winter break. I hope you had the opportunity to spend time with those you love and were able to find breaks of rest and relaxation. I wanted to reach out today to say a heartfelt “Thank You!”. Thank you to every teacher of Local #55, whether you are an administrator, classroom teacher, DL, DLCT, Counsellor, Consultant, or guest teacher…each of you have played an integral role (and will continue to do so) to keep your schools and work sites running as we ride this 5th wave of COVID-19. Your dedication, flexibility and kindness to your colleagues, your students and yourselves is both seen and appreciated. Two quick items of note:
Why/how does this impact you? Simply put, this attack on the Association is an attempt to weaken the profession. To find out more details please CLICK HERE. To help understand the issues more fully, the Association is holding a series of Member Information Meetings (MIMs) to discuss the minister’s plans to remove professional functions from the ATA and the Association’s response to issues related to schooling amid COVID’s 5th wave. The date specifically set aside for Calgary City Teachers is Wednesday, January 26th, 2022 at 7:00 pm, however, meetings have been scheduled the entire 3rd week of January (January 24 – 27th) so members can attend any session they wish. Members are strongly encouraged to attend one of these very important meetings. Please CLICK HERE to access zoom links.
Applications must be submitted by 4:00 pm on February 18, 2022. Full details on the job description are available using this link. Thank you again for all you do each day. Please know we are always available at the local (403-265-2678) to support you should you wish to reach out. Peace and blessings, |
